London’s National Portrait Gallery and Los Angeles’ Getty Museum have announced plans to jointly acquire Joshua Reynolds' 'Portrait of Mai', widely considered to be a national treasure.

In 1959, Peggy Guggenheim bought what she later described as ‘twelve fantastic artifacts' from Africa, the Pacific and South America, which went on to form the basis of her extraordinary collection of non-Western art. In 2021, they were showcased in Venice for the first time as a whole.
