CHÂTEAU LA VIOLETTE 2010Pomerol. Sadly, there's not a whole lot of production to this microscopic estate in Pomerol, but the name says it all. The awesome aromatics include not only raspberries, black cherries, and blackberry, but also the floral perfume of an haute couture house. Its terrific aromatics are followed by a wine with quintessential elegance married to almost unbridled density of fruit, all presented in a flawless and seamless concoction of full-bodied power, elegance and purity. This is a riveting wine and certainly one of the great classics to ever be produced by this tiny estate. Kudos to proprietress Catherine Pere-Verge. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2035. February 2013 100 WA2 bts. per lot $1,600 - $2,100 CHÂTEAU LA VIOLETTE 2010Pomerol. Sadly, there's not a whole lot of production to this microscopic estate in Pomerol, but the name says it all. CAYMUS CABERNET SAUVIGNON SPECIAL SELECTION 2001 (1) Napa Valley.

CAYMUS CABERNET SAUVIGNON SPECIAL SELECTION 2001 (1)Napa Valley. CAYMUS CABERNET SAUVIGNON SPECIAL SELECTION 2004 (2)Napa Valley. Even richer and fuller than the regular bottling, but at the same time hedonistically and voluptuously styled is the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection. Dense ruby/purple with low acidity and huge amounts of fruit, this is a seamless, full-bodied, classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon to drink now and over the next 15-18 years. 92 WS 95 WADOMINUS ESTATE 2003 (2)Napa Valley. The 2003 Dominus is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot (14.1% alcohol). Remarkably, it is the 20th vintage for Christian Moueix. Always a Bordeaux-inspired wine with restraint yet substance as well as a textured richness, the 2003 exhibits a deep plum/ruby/purple color, a creamy, opulent texture, no hard edges, and a wonderful sweetness of foresty, black currant and cherry fruit mixed with underbrush and hints of Chinese black tea. Well-proportioned and full-bodied, yet never over-stated or out of balance, this is another beauty from Moueix. Drink it over the next 15+ years. June 2013 95 WAHEITZ CELLAR CABERNET SAUVIGNON HONORING JOE HEITZ 1997 (4)Napa Valley. SHAFER VINEYARDS RELENTLESS 2000 (1)Napa Valley. scraped labelVÉRITÉ LA JOIE 1999 (1)North Coast, California. Composed of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Merlot (89% from Sonoma and 11% from Napa), the 1999 is a much younger wine than the 1998 and still has some upside potential. A deep ruby/purple color is followed by notes of graphite, unsmoked high class cigar tobacco, black currants and flowers. Round and generous with some tannins in the finish, it is close to full maturity and should drink well for another 15+ years. May 2011 95 WA11 bts. per lot $1,400 - $2,000 CAYMUS CABERNET SAUVIGNON SPECIAL SELECTION 2001 (1)Napa Valley. ANGELO GAJA LANGHE SPERSS 2004 Piedmont. Gaja’s 2004 Langhe Sperss

ANGELO GAJA LANGHE SPERSS 2004Piedmont. Gaja’s 2004 Langhe Sperss is an infant. Still incredibly primary, it exudes the essence of Serralunga black fruits, smoke and tar. The new oak is still very evident here and the wine seems to be at an awkward phase of its development. Still, it offers stunning concentration as well as length, with soft, caressing tannins that frame the fruit all the way to the long finish. This wine is in need of serious bottle age and may very well merit a higher score once it emerges from its temporary period of dormancy. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. December 2007 96 WA3 bts. per lot $900 - $1,200 ANGELO GAJA LANGHE SPERSS 2004Piedmont. Gaja’s 2004 Langhe Sperss is an infant.
