Signed Edouard Manet (LL) original dry point
Signed Edouard Manet (LL) original dry point\nEtching titled "Le Chat et Les Fleurs" signed on the plate. The piece is unframed and has excellent plate markings and margins. The print is recorded and executed on Ingres paper. Edourd Manet was born into the ranks of Parisian bougeoisie on January 29, 1832. He was influenced by the old masters, particularly Velazquez and Goya, but Manet reasoned that one's art should reflect ideals and ideas of the present rather than the past. In this piece, one can see Manet's goal of depicting the traditional Parisian landscape and his ties to the Impressionist painters such as Monet. Manet's work is exhibited in almost ever major museum around the world including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Louvre in Paris and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. The piece comes with a copy of the original receipt from when the piece was bought on October 24, 1998 from the Garrett Galleries. Circa - 1869. Dallas Auction Gallery
