Zwiggelaar Auctions

In 2009 Vincent Zwiggelaar started his own auction house and organized his first auction in the capital city of the Netherlands, Amsterdam. After that his auction house grew and he continued organizing auctions two times a year. Now Zwiggelaar Auctions is specialized in books, photography, posters, comic books, (graphic) art and related objects.

[Classics] Arrianou Techne taktike (...). Arriani ars tactica (...) Cum Interpretibus Latinis, & Notis. Ex recensione & Museo Nicolai Blancardi. Amsterdam, Apud Janssenio Waesbergios, 1683, (14),450,(4) p., text in Greek and Latin, with engraved frontispiece by J. van den Avele, large folding map of the Indian Ocean area, 1 other folding map of the Black Sea by Abraham Ortelius, engraved military charts (1x large folding), contemporary parchment (sm. damage along top edge). Lucius Flavius Arrianus was a Greek-speaking historian and philosopher from the second century AD. This collection of his works (in the best edition with beautiful large map) was translated and annotated by Nicolas Blankaert (1625-1703), including the famous treaty on war tactics, the tactics in the battle against Alano, expeditions at the Black and Red Seas and a treaty concerning hunting. Lot with 4 scrapbooks from the '60s with more than 200 pages of pasted pictures, photocards, newspaper clippings and prints from pop magazines + 13 nos. Here and there (water)stained; paper split across top hinge on inside. Still a good copy with notably wide margins, from the library of Mr. F.C. Koch (Rotterdam), with his ex libris on inside front cover. Hand-coloured copies of this classic in this field are rare. In this work, the newly invented fire hose is presented and large 17th-century fires in Amsterdam are shown, allowing comparisons of old and new ways of fire extuingishing. Zwiggelaar Auctions
