Auktionhaus Kaupp was founded in 1994 and is since 2004 residing in the Castle of Sulzburg near Freiburg i.Br. in the border triangle Germany-Switzerland-France.
The today´s listed residence built in 1515 was once the seat of the Margrave of Baden and, after extensive renovations, the premises reckon among the most beautiful and spectacular of the German auction houses. The auction weeks which are held twice a year are taking place in the former ballroom of the palace. The previews include the entire rooms.
The focus of the auction house is located on Modern and Contemporary Art, but also on Antiques, selected Old Masters and 19th Century Paintings as well as Asian Art and Jewellery. Various special sales complete the offer of high quality art objects.
Remarkable and lavishly produced catalogues are the hallmark of the owner-operated auction house. The passion of collecting and the enthusiasm of the two managing directors are as honest as catching, and the personal commitment of the entire team is perhaps the explanation of the success of the recent years.
The long-lasting relationship to art lovers and collectors from all around the world contributes to the fact that the sales gained international attention and lead always and again to surprising sale results.
