Results for eames lounge chair and ottoman

In 1956, husband and wife Charles and Ray Eames designed one of the most iconic sets of furniture from the 20th century: the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman. Working for the Herman Miller furniture company, the duo spent many years designing the luxury piece which combined traditional and modern elements, whilst providing both comfort and style. The divided sections of the chair provide support for the head, back, arms and upper legs, whilst the ottoman creates a resting place for the lower legs and feet. For almost 40 years, the shell of the set was crafted from plywood with a veneer of Brazilian rosewood; since the 1990s, the Brazilian rosewood finish has been replaced by cherry, walnut and other wooden materials. Today, one of the earlies Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman sets is on display in the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
