George Sandys was a 16th– and early 17th-century traveler who spent time in Italy, Turkey, and Palestine. “Sandys travelled to the Levant in 1610, spending a year in Turkey, Palestine and Egypt. His observations first appeared in 1615 and his text was soon regarded as a special authority on the Levant.
