About the object

James I (1603-25), silver Crown, third coinage (1619-25), variety with plumes over reverse shield indicating Welsh mined silver, armoured King on horseback right, sword on shoulder, plain groundline below, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding both sides, initial mark trefoil over lis (1624) both sides, IACOBVS D: G: MAG: BRI: FRAN: ET HIB: REX. rev. Welsh plumes over quartered shield of arms, legend and beaded border surrounding, no punctuation with letter Ns inverted, except the second N which is N punched over inverted N, QVÆ DEVS CONIVNXIT NEMO SEPARET, weight 30.39g (Cooper dies X*/XIX*; N.2121; S.2665). A patch of light flan striations from the annealing of the blank flan and subsequent striking, weak on high points, toned a bold to good very fine and rare.
