London: 1886. First English edition, case-bound issue. London: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1886. First English edition, case-bound issue. Octavo. [8], 141, [1, blank], [2, ads] pages. Publisher's salmon cloth, front lettered in black with publisher's device stamped in black; text block edges trimmed. Spine ends mostly gone; split starting toward head of spine; backstrip darkened just a shade, and soiled; wear along joints, with small gouge toward top of front joint; boards rubbed, cloth softly rippled, with some soiling; wear to edges; corners bumped with boards peeking through cloth. Text block dulled from age; top edge darkened, with a couple of specks of foxing to fore-edge; endpapers lightly foxed; previous owner signature at verso of front free endpaper; joints starting to split, but still sound; split to spine between gatherings B and C resulting in loosening of a couple of gatherings; occasional spot-soiling or evidence of dog-earing scattered throughout. Very good. Published shortly after the issue in wrappers, in January 1886. A Haycraft Queen Cornerstone.HID07601242017
