Paul Signac (1863-1935) France

Paul Signac was a French Post-Impressionist artist and theorist. Signac’s favored motif was the Mediterranean, and he often rendered views from its harbor cities in his pointillist pieces. Signac left his architectural studies behind to become an artist after seeing the works of Impressionists like Claude Monet in Paris. He wanted to further develop the techniques used by Impressionists, and to compose exacting harmonies of color instead.
