Rolex

Rolex is a designer, manufacturer and distributor of luxury wristwatches. The company was founded in London, England by German watchmaker Hans Wilsdorf and his brother-in-law, Alfred Davis, in 1905. Originally named Wilsdorf and Davis, the company was registered under the trademark Rolex in 1908. Rolex has produced remarkable and innovative timepieces over the last 112 years, including the first waterproof wriswatch, 'Oyster', created in 1926. Despite being committed to mechanical movements, the Swiss watchmaker contributed to the development of quartz watch movement technology, used for the rare 'Oysterquartz' model. The 1960s 'Daytona' model was inspired by American actor, Paul Newman, and was supposedly worn by the icon everyday until his death. Today, the Rolex headquarters are located in Switzerland, producing some 2000 watches daily, coveted by celebrities and royalty worldwide.
