Model Cars

Throughout history, children's toys have imitated trends in day-to-day life; therefore, it was inevitable that the rise of the automobile in the 20th century would bring the production of model cars. For several decades, model cars were marketed as children's playthings, crafted from materials such as lead, brass and tin. The most prominent manufacturers of early model cars were British brands Meccano and Mettoy, who respectively produced Dinky Toys and Corgi Toys. After years of success on the toy market, model cars slowly began to infiltrate the collectors' market, with detailed miniature replicas of classic automobiles appealing to an adult audience. Since the end of the Second World War, model car kits have proven popular amongst all generations. Although their popularity has declined heavily in today's toy market, vintage model cars remain highly sought-after by enthusiasts and can hold great value.
