Canadian

With over 15,000 years of history, Canada has accumulated a rich cultural heritage influenced by both its indigenous peoples and continuous waves of immigration. One of the focal points of the nation's culture is visual art, which encompasses a number of art forms: ceramics, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and many others. Whilst Canada's population has continually changed and grown over the years as a result of immigration, Native Canadians have continued to produce art encompassing indigenous values and customs; renowned modern Native artists include Rita Letendre and Kenojuak Ashevak. Important artists of European descent have also emerged from Canada, such as abstract painter, Jack Bush, and impressionist-influenced artist, Eric Goldberg. During the early 20th century, English-descended artist Emily Carr married her own European influences with those of indigenous peoples around her, depicting scenes and traditions of aboriginal life in painting, sculpture, pottery and textile.
