Used Watches

Throughout the 15th and 16th centuries, technology was invented which made the watch possible. These begun as heavy 'clock-watches', developing into the pocket watch and eventually the wristwatch. Over the last 200 years, a number of global brands have emerged which dominate the luxury watch market; these include Rolex, Patek Philippe, Breitling, Omega and TAG Heuer - all of which are Swiss-made. Used versions of these and other branded timepieces are highly-sought after on the collectors' market for a number of reasons. Primarily, buying second-hand is a more affordable option for these watches, which typically come with a high price tag. On the other hand, the used watch market can offer rare timepieces not available elsewhere - which do not come at such a wallet-friendly price. For example, the most expensive wristwatch ever to be sold at auction was the 'Patek Philippe 1518', selling for over $11 million at Phillips, Geneva; made in 1943, the watch was one of only four produced.
