Yayoi Kusama (1929-) Japan

Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese author and artist. At first Kusama studied traditional Japanese art, but later she became increasingly interested in western art.
In the late 1950s she moved to New York where she was influenced by the abstract Expressionist movement. At the same time, she began to work more with sculpture and installations, and became a part of the New York art scene in which Andy Warhol was active. She moved back to Japan in the early 1970s.
