Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) France

Auguste Renoir was a French painter and sculptor who is considered one of the most prominent impressionists. Renoir began his career as a porcelain painter in a factory that made Chinese porcelain. After saving enough money from his job at the porcelain factory, he enrolled in art school at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. Renoir then began as a student of Charles Gleyres where he met Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley and Frédéric Bazille. Renoir is known for his motifs of young women, children, flowers and landscapes.
