Dining Table

Although traditionally the dining room was a household space reserved for the wealthy, today it is considered a necessity in most modern homes. For centuries, the dining table has been the centrepiece of this room, used for eating, serving food and entertaining. Dining tables can be accompanied by benches, stools or chairs, with the latter being more common and preferred for their comfort. The material and design of the dining room table has developed and evolved significantly over the years. Wood remains a popular choice on account of its durability; however, materials such as glass, plastic and marble are also used by manufacturers. The preferred design of a dining table is often determined by the size and shape of the space available; larger dining rooms are often equipped with long, grand tables, whilst owners of smaller spaces may opt for a square, two-seat version.
