Helmut Newton was a German fashion and portrait photographer who is now considered a legend in modern photography. Newton studied fashion and portrait photography under Yva, one of Berlin’s leading socialite photographers in the 1930s. He worked for magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle, where his photographs were frequently published.
Newton often tried to reproduce what was forbidden and scandalous, often with erotic undertones and sexually stylized motifs. Newton photographed famous people and was active in Australia, Europe and the US.
