The Emerging Artist Prize was set up in 2014 to focus on supporting the widest number of artists possible through its structure, the team behind it decided to create a prize that offered something positive to all entrants.

The Prize was established after seeing so many artists feel dissatisfied with other art prizes and their lack of engagement with their community of entrants. The Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize firmly focuses on trying to offer support to all of its entrants through online promotion, talks and feedback. We’re proud to have seen previous entrants, and not just the winning artists, gain success in the form of being picked up by galleries and collectors, make sales and be offered further exhibitions. It is with this success that we aim to continue developing the prize with the artist at its heart.

Now in its third year, the prize has trebled in size, introduced new awards in the form of a Sculpture Prize, an East London focused prize in conjunction with Rich Mix and receive the support of Cass Art meaning they can now add materials to the support offered to winning artists as well as exhibitions and cash prizes.

The judging panel includes preliminary judges Sculptor Adeline de Monseignat, Art Critic and Presenter Aindrea Emelife and Director of Rosenfeld Porcini Gallery Georgia Adamson. With the next stage of judging being completed by Sculptor and Council Member of Royal British Society of Sculptors, Briony Marshall, Artist and President of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour Rosa Sepple, Sotheby’s Institute or Art Program Director and Author David Bellingham, Director of the Schorr Collection of Art, Howard Lewis, and Senior Partner at Ashurst, Anna Delgado.
