The Gagosian show entitled In the Land of the Dead, Stepping on the Tail of a Rainbow, sees a darker side of the artist who is known for his work with cartoon-esque flowers and anime influences.

His new work is inspired by natural and nuclear disasters that have had an impact on Japan's landscape of late. The sinister works in the exhibition include an anime character against a background of black human skulls as well as 82 foot painting portraying children struggling to work whilst being surrounded by terrifying creatures.
