Stephenson bought the artwork from Blake's studio who was, as the time,  a fellow student of hers at Royal College of Art, London. She paid Blake in £3 installments, which in a fantastic tale, she gave to him at his local pub every Saturday until her debt was cleared.

She told the Telegraph: "I went to his studio with a friend, saw this painting and thought I have to get it. But £30 was probably what I was earning in a week as a junior designer back then."

"It's given me enormous pleasure over the years, and has always had pride of place wherever I've lived."

Blake let Jinty know the £30"kept him in food for the week.''

Also to be featured in Christie's sale will be Dame Barbara Hepworth sculptures as well as Lowry's Going to Work which holds an estimate of £1 million.
