From 17th to 19th July, the famous and equally glamorous, Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo will be filled with the finest jewels, timepieces and Hermès designs. For the sale, Artcurial has invited a French designer, for the second consecutive year, to select their favourite lots. This year, the task is for Pierre Hardy, designer for his eponymous shoe and leather brand as well as the head of jewellery and shoe design at Hermès.

''It was when I saw the objects at the beginning of the project,'' explained Hardy, ''all mixed up without any particular order or price hierarchy that the idea came to me to gather them and make up a story.''

And what a fine selection of pieces Pierre had to select from. When asked how he felt curating vintage pieces of Hermès archives, the designer explained how ''some of them still amaze me by their beauty.''

On 19th, the Hermès sale will take place. The undisputed star of this portion of the sale is a Hermès Kelly Bag which features a portrait of Princess Grace, dating back to March 1954. The bag was presented to Princess Stephanie of Monaco during the 2007 Les années Grace Kelly (The Grace Kelly Years) exhibition at Monaco's Grimaldi Forum.
