In 2007, Michael and Goss founded The Goss-Michael Foundation, an outstanding collection of contemporary British art exhibited in the US. Some 500 works by leading names in British contemporary art were selected by Michael and Goss. The works in the collection focus on sexuality, relationships, identity, beauty and social and political forces that today's generation are faced with.
On the homepage of the foundation's site, Goss writes:
"I'm heartbroken with the news that my dear friend and longtime love George Michael has passed. He was a major part of my life and I loved him very, very much. He was an extremely kind and generous man. The beautiful memories and music he brought to the world will always be an important part of my life and those who also loved and admired him." - Kenny Goss
The collection features works by artists including Sarah Lucas, Marc Quinn, Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, Gilbert + George and Eva Rothschild.
In 2013, the foundation launched an Artist-in-Residence programme in Dallas, Texas. As part of the residency, a solo exhibition of the artist's work is held as well as the artist becoming part of the Foundation’s exhibition schedule. Resident artists have access to the Foundation's library, and the Foundation staff are available to assist in securing materials and preparing exhibitions. Previous artists include Dan Rees (2013) and Neil Raitt (2014.)
