The structure echoes a Giorgio Morandi still life as it is made up of six geometric shapes clad in a materials such as stone, Finnish plywood and lead-coated copper.

The house, which reflects Gehry's signature style, was completed in 1987 and won House and Garden's design of the year. Mike and Penny Winton commissioned Frank Gehry to design their guest house after reading about him in the New York Times in 1982.

Gehry designed the house as a large outdoor sculpture. When they sold their land and property in 2002 to Kirt Woodhouse, he divided the land and donated the house to the University of St. Thomas.

Wright will be offering the opportunity to acquire a building by one of the 20th century's most influential architects. The house has an estimate of $1 000 000-1 5000 000, which includes the building and not the land, therefore the buyer will need to relocate the house.
