Who can forgot when Naomi Campbell took that tumble in Vivienne Westwood's skyscraper heels at Paris Fashion week in March 1993?  The V&A exhibition Shoes: Pleasure and Pain explores extreme footwear with 200 pairs of shoes from around the world. The significant place shoes have in ancient cultures and current developments in footwear, the ever growing high heel and changes to the shoe silhouette are put under the magnifying glass.
