Stewart's first novel Madam Will You Talk, published in 1955, propelled her into fame as an early female writer of mystery. Stewart went on to have a career which spanned decades and saw the sale of millions of books.

To mark each work, Stewart purchased a piece of jewellery. To pay tribute to her most adored novel, The Moonspinners,  Lady Stewart commissioned Cartier to create a brooch for her.

The novel, set on the Greek island of Crete, features the moonspinner creatures, which Stewart herself once described as ''naiads - water nymphs'' who each had a spindle which they would take ''down to the sea, to wash their wool. And the wool slips from the spindles into the water, and unravels in long ripples of light from the shore to the horizon.''

The stunning Cartier brooch echoes the description of these ripples, with a yellow diamond crescent moon with colourless streams of diamonds.
