In 1971, Porter approached the Clothing Export Council of Great Britain, with the idea of an event which would showcase British fashion design. With no funding behind him, Porter raised cash himself, to the tune of £500, donated by the likes of Jean Muir, Zandra Rhodes, and Bruce Oldfield.

To celebrate the event, which is today one of the most important in the fashion calendar, we have paired some of the upcoming Spring/Summer 2016 collections on show next week with equally beautiful pieces on Barnebys.
