The French giant is known for both their Street Art and Comic art sales, with the sale taking place in Hong Kong's Liang Yi museum is a celebration of both. Artcurial value the event as a way of working with the Asian market and collectors.

Isabelle Bresset, Artcurial's Associate Director commented on how the sale ''[illustrates] the pioneering spirit of [Artcurial.] Artcurial returns to Hong Kong with two of our specialities whose place we helped secure on the international art market scene.''

And that place they have indeed secured. Artcurial's inaugural sale in Hong Kong last year focused on Comic strips, with the rare drawing Lotus Bleu by Hergé bought by an Asian collector for $94 2005 (9 625 000 HKD) making it one of the most expensive comics in the world.

2016 marks the 10th anniversary of Artcurial's first street art sale. To celebrate this, this will be the first time the house has ever held a street art sale in Asia. The contemporary art form has started to find its way on to the walls of Hong Kong and since 2014, HKWALLS, a street art fair where artists gather to celebrate the ever-rising art style has been held annually in March.

With its narrow streets, the city is perfect for street art. The Sheung Wan district, where the Liang Yi museum is located, is the epicentre of Hong Kong's street art movement.

''Urban art is a stream of contemporary art which is gaining momentum around the world, even in Asia,'' says Artcurial's Urban art specialist Arnaud Oliveux.

''Artcurial continues to be a pioneer in the field and seeing out new territories of the contemporary artistic creation.''

The sale will take place on 3rd October, 2016. Check out the full catalogue here.
