This beautifully illustrated map is by Christopher and John Greenwood. It depicts London from an Actual Survey made in the Years 1824, 1825 & 1826. The map was completed in August 1827 and is richly hand-coloured . The engraved folding map is in 60 sections and backed onto linen.

Brothers Christopher and John Greenwood founded C.&J. Greenwood in 1821. Born in Wakefield, Yorkshire, Christopher later moved to London in 1818. His first map was of his home county, Yorkshire, which was produced using his own surveying.

John Brighton Piper's Aquatints includes an introduction by Lord Alfred Douglas. Published in 1939, the lot includes 12 monochrome aquatints with accompanying text on blue paper with the original cloth-backed boards. The wonderful piece is signed by Piper himself: 'Yours sincerely / John Piper' and later inscribed 'signed by John Piper / from the library of Osbert Lancaster'. Levinson 12-23.
