The jewellery selection of the sale features pieces dating back over 3 000 years: from Ancient Egyptian scarabs to Art nouveau pieces. These two examples date from around 1900, when the floral and filigree designs of Art Nouveau were king. The middle part of this necklace is in the shape of a laurel wreath and could be worn as a tiara. It is adorned with diamonds which total around 25ct, including a 1.25ct diamond in the center of the piece.

This rather regal courtly chest of drawers was made by the talented hands of Parisian cabinetmaker Nicolas Sageot (1666-1731). Sageot's work is best known for its elaborate marquetry, which, at the time, had been introducing by Charles André Boulle.

Lempertz' "Silver Cabinet" features a terrine with a lid and a matching présentoir of the silversmith Christian von Hausen from Gdansk. Both the terrine and the tray are decorated with acanthus leaves, wine leaves and grapes.

Peter Carl Fabergé is still regarded today as one of the finest jewellers and silversmiths in history. This silver cutlery set from the Moscow Fabergé house with a matching case has the monogram ''HZ'' engraved on the handles.

This work by Jan Brueghel the Elder features post mills, which were first introduced in the 12th century in the north of France and Belgium, the home of Jan Brueghel.

Dutch painter Jan van der Heyden was one of the first painters to capture cityscapes and was one of the most important representatives of this genre.

This portrait of the Virgin and Child is attributed to the Dutch painter Juan de Flandes. The name of the artist behind the work, who is believed to have worked as a court painter for Isabella of Castile of Spain, is not known.

This still life of a lavish spread by Floris van Schooten is an example of a Banketje. These were a type of Dutch still life from the 17th century in which the artist would reduce the color to basic tones. These painting originated primarily in the North Dutch city of Haarlem and Van Schooten was one of the foremost artists of the genre.

This serene seascape is Saxon artist Ludwig Richter's interpretation of Naples' coast. Richter created the piece in 1830, after he had visited the coast of Naples with a his fellow of young artists.

Corot's forest scene plays with the balance of light and dark to create atmospheric piece in which the viewer questions what time of day or season he is depicting, a characteristic of Corot's late work.

Friedrich Nerly, born in Erfurt, lived in Venice since 1837 and devoted his life's work to capturing the city. This painting portrays the morning sun on an icy, winter's day in Venice. Experts conclude that the piece is dated after 1854, as the piece is painted from the view of the Accademia Bridge, which had been completed that year.
