The Old Masters department and 19th century paintings department at Artcurial boasts a 24% increase in sales on last year, with, perhaps more importantly long term, a 35% increase in new buyers.

The first important work in the sale is Jean-Baptiste Pater's Le Colin Maillard or Blind-man's bluff. This work is special for the impact it could possibly have on future generations of art collectors as Artcurial will be hosting an event based around the piece with the aim to inspire children. Ancient works specialist Matthieu Fournier will take soon-to-be art lovers aged 5-13 years old back to the 10th century, to explore the origins of the game which was inspired by a blinded 10th century soldier who continued to shoot at the enemy. Fournier will explore the world of art and auctions with the youngsters - collectors really are getting younger!
