Christie's have claimed that "curatorial and sales calendar innovation'' are factors in the record results. Outstanding sales this year included the Looking Forward to the Past sale which saw the record-breaking sale of Picasso's Les femmes d'Alger (Version 'O') which sold for £114.7 million.

The half-year report broke the total down to £2.6 billion in auction sales, £9.9 million in online sales and £333 million in private sales. The Postwar and Contemporary department has totalled £927.7 million in 2015 so far whilst Impressionist and Modern Art has made £771.6 million.
