61_0415 Donna - UO5 & UP6, by Gaetano Pesce for B+B Italia

The ''Donna'' chair was originally designed in 1969 and embraces the vibrancy of Pop Art. Gaetano Pesce is known for his love of creating anthropomorphic shapes. This iconic chair has been created using stretched fabric over polyurethane foam. The chair was created in an ever so magical way, the materials were compressed and vacuum-packed into PVC wrappers, so that when they were unwrapped the chairs sprung into life.

The shape of the chair symbolises a prehistoric, female fertility figure and the accompanying ball acts as a symbol of captivity.

Pesce boasts work in 30 collections around the world including MoMa, New York and San Francisco, London's Victoria and Albert Museum and Musee des Arts Décoratifs of Louvre in Paris.
