The story behind the guitar is that Coluche accidentally broke it during a concert before he autographed it for a friend. The autograph on the guitar reads: "In memory of an evening when the Iron Curtain fell during the show. To my friend Maurice, Best, Coluche."

The guitar will be accompanied by an autographed photo of the comedian and a signed letter from his wife Véronique Colucci dated March 1992, authenticating the guitar as well as the original purchase receipt.

Philanthropist Coluche founded Les Restos du Coeur, one of France's biggest charities, which provides aid for the homeless. All proceeds from the sale of the guitar will go to benefit Les Restos du Coeur.

As well as this exceptional piece of French pop culture history, the sale will also include important Design, Art Nouveau and Art Deco pieces.
