Born in Sacramento, California, in 1937, graphic artist Wes Wilson's vibrant and fluid posters paved way for the psychedelic music poster synonymous with the 1960's.

Inspired by Alphonse Mucha, Van Gogh, Gustav Klimt, and Egon Schiele, Wilson's work exploded on to the San Francisco music scene, his works as much a part of concerts as any lead guitarist.

A Wilson poster is instantly recognisable thanks to the font which makes the letters appears to melt into each other and the way Wilson leaves no space unfilled with his creations.

The first example of Wilson's psychedelic poster was the BG-18, which he created for a show at the Fillmore Auditorium, which has gone down in history as the first psychedelic poster.

Every major music artist from the 1960's and 1970's was immortalised through Wilson's posters: The Doors, The Beatles, The Velvet Underground, Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd and countless others.

Wilson's appreciation for the female form also became one of his trademarks, his nudes were never erotic, instead they beautifully captured the Free Love movement of the 1960's.
