Okay collectors, we’ve got the auction for you.

This sale from Martel Maides includes a huge variety of items, from the big to the small, the inexpensive to the coveted, and the decorative to the functional.

To begin: elegant antiques in all shapes, colours and styles.

This George II carved mahogany armchair is the perfect fit for any library.

Its down curved arm supports are carved with acanthus and its ends with florets, which sits on cabriole legs with foliate brackets and cabochon hips. It is finished with rocaille on paw feet enclosing castors. Finally, its rectangular back, arm pads and seat are covered in nailed damask of a brilliant bright blue.

If one chair simply isn’t enough, this pair of Irish George I mahogany side chairs might just do the trick. Each chair is furnished with a triple arched back rail which is centred by a shell carved in relief over an eared vase. The seats are covered in rust cut velvet and raised on cabriole legs with scallop shell hips, pendant husks and scroll bracket.

If you’re not in the market for any furniture, take a gander at this striking gouache on card.

It is a stylised Bavarian village scene set in bold, flat colours with strong lines and clear shapes. The 1971 work is by British artist Molly McCann (1913-2005) and measures 40.7 x 50.8 cm.

Finally, perhaps you’d like to exchange your money for cash? There are a number of rare and scarce banknotes on offer, including this consecutive run of five one pound States of Guernsey British banknotes.

Extremely rare, these notes are 100 years old – dated 15 October 1918. They are brown and orange with a view of Castle Cornet/St Peter Port and have been printed by Perkins, Bacon & Co.

Whatever your tastes, you’re bound to find something in this collection of goods.
