Following Chorley's outstanding sale of Irish silver from a private collection, a similar collection in this sale is expected to achieve such results again. Irish silver has always attracted collectors, both because it is scarcer than its English counterparts but also because it has its own unmistakable character. Highlights include a pair of Limerick table spoons by Maurice Fitzgerald, an oval tobacco box by John Hillery or John Humphreys from Cork, dating to c 1790 and a pair of sugar tongs by John Whelply of Cork.
