If you consider yourself a whisky aficionado, then you’ll want to take a peek at WVA’s auction – ending this week.

WVA is an independent whisky and wine auction house, listing monthly sales. Their selection for this September includes a number of delicious and beautifully-packaged whiskies, fit for any enthusiast’s cellar.

Top of our list is WVA’s two bottles of 2018 Macallan Genesis, the latest release from the label to celebrate their brand new state of the art 140 m distillery and visitors’ centre near Craigellechie.

Another from The Macallan, this elaborately-packaged lot was released to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns – and it certainly does echo the Burns name.

With only 250 bottles produced from two casks (1997 and 1998) that both bore 1759 – the date of Burn’s birth – this bottling not only comes with an attractive decanter but also an insert containing a map of ‘Burns Country’ and an individually numbered Burns poem, as well as additional information about the bottling. The box also carries an enamel plate, specifically commissioned to feature a portrait of Robert Burns.

The Macallan launched its ‘Exceptional Single Cask’ range as a series of 14 casks matured for between 12 and 22 years. The first seven casks were made available exclusively to the United States, which proved a huge success, and a further seven casks will be released across Europe and the Middle East. This cask is from 2003-2017.

Finally, this 2008-bottled whisky is from Glenfarclas and was released to commemorate 40 years of their 105 cask strength. With an extra 30 years in the cask than the normal 105 release, there are only 893 bottles of this particular whisky in the world.

If none of these whiskies are to your taste, there are plenty more from the auction house waiting to be discovered on Barnebys.
