The sale will feature two pieces by Le Corbusier from the collection of the Danish architect Jørn Utzon collection. These unique enamel paintings by the self-taught Swiss-French architect are part of his work as Modernism's foremost theorists and stylists.
In addition, work by Emil Nolde, Tamara De Lempicka and Fernand Léger will also be up for auction.
This Léger piece was purchased from Galerie Arditti, 15 Rue de Miromesnil, Paris. It was then it has been in a private collection in Denmark before it was bought by the current owner's father. May 20, 1966. The painting is included in the updated "Répertoire des oeuvres sur papier de Fernand Léger" by Mme Irus Hansma. Certificate No. 190/10/2017 from the authority of Mme Irus Hansma included.
Among the modern design is one of the world's foremost and greatest masters of the chair Hans J Wegner. His chair model "Cowhorn Chair" designed in 1952 was shown the same year at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition at the Design Museum in Denmark. The model is a fantastic example of his brilliant design. The six chairs were made around 1968 by John Hansen.
