Every first Monday of May - the most epic red carpet when it comes to fashion is rolled out. The elite of fashion, film, music and more sharpen their elbows on the red carpet to be the best dressed at Anna Wintour's annual Met Gala.
This year's theme was quite different from the last few years, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute exhibition and 2017 Met Gala both honoured fashion designer Rei Kawakubo - the first time a living designer since Yves Saint Laurent in 1983 was the sole subject of these events.
Rei Kawakubo is the creative brain behind avant garde fashion house Comme des Garçons. Kawakubo's aesthetic is instantly recognisable, making her one of the most important fashion minds of the late 20th and 21st century. Bold shapes, new lines, pops of colour - this year the Met Gala-goers could go as outrageous as they wanted, with a theme that had no boundaries.
We've selected a few of our favourite looks, and how you could get a little piece of this year's Met Gala style on Barnebys.
For this year's Gala, Kawakubo was honorary chair and joined by both Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour for the role. Katy Perry was the undisputed star of the carpet this year, in her futuristic Maison Margiela gown by John Galliano.
