The ''Engraver to the Stars'' worked in Las Vegas, Nevada, customs engraving guns for music and screens biggest names. This piece was reportedly engraved for Sammy Davis Jr. The singer took the world's stages by storm in the 1960s as part of the ''Rat Pack,'' alongside fellows entertainers Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford.

This piece, coming up for auction at specialists Rock Island Auctions, is a rather ostentatious affair. The design features a gold inlaid wolves head, the left side has a gold inlaid cougars head and the top of the barrel has an engraved plains scene with three gold inlaid Indians on horseback hunting a buffalo. The top strap, front portion of the frame, cylinder flats and back strap have gold inlaid scroll accents. The four card deck suits (clubs, hearts, diamonds and spades) are gold inlaid, alternating three times around the rear of the cylinder.




The bottom of the trigger guard bow is engraved "ENG. BY / J. CONDON" with a gold inlaid border around it. The sides of the hammer are engraved with an eagles head. The revolver is fitted with one-piece grips with scallop border checkering and gold Colt medallions. The piece is complete in a wooden case with French cut gold velvet.
