Yorkshire-born artist David Hockney has leant his skills to the tabloid, redesigning the logo using just his thumb on a drawing app on a tablet. The 3rd February edition is a special one-off, which Hockney states he ''was delighted to be asked. Once I thought about the idea it didn’t take me long. The sun and The Sun. I love it.'' Take that comment as you will.

Hockney's special edition will in no doubt boost circulation. It coincides with Hockney's upcoming exhibition at Tate Britain which opens on 9th February and brings together  an extensive selection of David Hockney's most famous works celebrating his achievements in painting, drawing, print, photography and video across six decades.

The special edition Hockney version of The Sun will also feature an interview with the artist.
