According to principal Jack DeStories, "We've shifted to an online-only format to allow more bidders more opportunities to buy. Our system allows bidders to click to our website and bid directly while easily checking the status of any previous bids.''

The sale features an impressive selection of Americana, including a William Pierce Stubbs ship portrait of the Harry A. Barry, a matching pair of Connecticut heart & crown side chairs and an early sheet metal weathervane of a Native American.

Also in the online-only auction is an interesting selection of clocks, featuring Jonas Alrichs Chippendale walnut tall clock with ogee feet and fluted corner columns, a Renaissance Revival Ithica bank regulator in untouched original condition and a Seth Thomas jewelers floor regulator standing in at 8'6" with a silvered 14" dial.

Twentieth century design in the sale includes lamps by Tiffany, Handel and Pairpoint, mid-century furniture by Hans Wegner, Peter Hvidt, Johannes Aasbjerg and an Eames rocker.

Works by artists including Robert Rauschenberg, Yaacov Agam, Ben Nicholson and Edouard Manet will be going under the virtual gavel.

An exciting piece in the sale is an Apollo 11 photograph of Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin, autographed by each.

Fairfield are known for their fine jewellery sales, and this online auction is no exception. Leading a large selection is a Tiffany & Company platinum and diamond ring with a 2.96 carat solitaire graded D/E color and VVS1. Other jewellery lots include fine watches by names such as Cartier, Rolex and Paul Ditsheim.
