Too stunning to miss, Sworders of Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, snapped up the three pieces for their May Asian Art sale.

The first piece, and perhaps the most unusual of the three sold, was this 20th century decorative double dagger. The piece has been decorated with a silver gilt mesh with enamel dragons. It features stones such as aventurine quartz, banded agate and turquoise cabochons. Collectors saw the beauty in this decorative dagger, after it achieved a hammer price of £550 against a pre-sale estimate of £300-500.

Two exquisite bangles were consigned by the same Barnebys user. Even more so than the decorative dagger, these pieces of jewellery excited collectors as they almost doubled the high estimate given by Sworders' experts.

This 1930s 14 carat Chinese gold bangle with a rose quartz plaque carved and pierced with flowers was estimated to sell for £400-600. The hammer went down at £1 100, which was also the case for the 18 carat 1930s bangle pictured below.
