29 Hublot Big Bang

One of the most exciting pieces coming up for auction at John Pye is a Hublot Big Bang model. All Big Bang editions feature the signature porthole design consisting of a round bezel with handlebar sides and six hexagonally-positioned screws. The casing for the watch is also a large design.

In 2014, prior to Baselworld, Hublot introduced to the market the Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Chrono which was the Official Watch Of The 2014 World Cup.

The Big Bang model has inspired some pretty unique collaborations including one with Maxime Buchi, is a 38-year-old Swiss tattoo artist and entrepreneur, and the founder and director of the creative studio Sang Bleu.

An even crazier version of The Big Bang was launched by Hublot, the Unico Sapphire, which was a totally clear watch.

37 Panerai Royal Navy Clearance Diver Submersible

This Panerai Royal Navy Clearance Diver Submersible is an example of a timepiece specially commissioned by the Royal Navy’s Clearance Branch. What is special about this piece coming to the secondary market is that they were originally exclusively created and available only to serving members of Royal Navy.

This decision to be selective on who could purchase this Panerai model was a very clever idea indeed, as in today’s secondary watch market a rich heritage or history adds zeros on to final bids.

Panerai watches have a tight connection with military history. During WWII, a model of Panerai watch which was initially intended for the Italian Decima MAS was eventually taken by German forces.

Rolex Submariner Rolex Submariner

The Rolex Submariner: a diving legend. Introduced over 60 years ago, the Submariner is the brainchild of Rolex founder and president Hans Wildorf. A water resistant Oyster-case with screw-down crown and the self-winding movement are at the heart of this timeless design.

Wilsdorf was inspired by René-Paul Jeanneret, a member of the board of directors at Rolex - and a passionate diver. Jeanneret wanted the watchmakers to design a timepiece that was elegant enough to be worn everyday, as well as for its primary use of being used to withstand water.
