[ Coins ] Canada George V 5 Cents 1921, KM22, MS64 PCGS. Sharply struck with mottled argent-gray and russet toning. There is minor spotting and light hairlines that keep this piece from the Gem category. Often called the Prince of Canadian coins, the 1921 issue is alone at the pinnacle of the entire Canadian 5 Cent series. Almost the entire issue was melted in 1922 and only a few hundred pieces were released by the mint, with almost all of these going into circulation. It is generally thought that the few surviving high-grade pieces were given to visitors to the mint in 1921 or sold to numismatists. Regardless of how this piece survived, Choice and finer examples are rare and among the most treasured items of all Canadian numismatics.
