condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The edges of the canvas are taped. There is evidence of light wear and handling along the edges with some light rubbing most visible at the upper left corner. Under raking light, an area of radial cracking is visible just right of center, 4-inches above the bottom edge and a faint horizontal stretcher bar impression is visible in this area. The colors are bright, fresh and clean. The stretcher is slightly bowed in the lower right. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, a ½-inch line along the bottom edge approximately 36-inches from the left fluoresces and appears to have benefitted from light retouching, and a light abrasion to the right of this fluoresces but does not appear to be the result of restoration. Unframed. In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
