With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 1 February 2007, COSC certification, instructions, product literature, leather pouch, hang-tag, leather folder, box and outer packaging. Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 2006 with opaline-white decorated dial (calatrava cross) and Roman numerals in white gold, and its subsequent sale on 27 January 2007.
This reference 5002P has never been offered at auction before and is believed to be the only 13th example of this model to appear in public to date.
Produced from 2001 to 2011 with an extremely rarified output of around 10 watches per year (a rarity confirmed by the fact that so far only around 15 platinum examples appeared on the market), reference 5002 can be considered one of the horological marvels of our time. The most complicated movement ever realized by Patek Philippe, this double dialed mechanical wonder incorporates on one side a retrograde perpetual calendar with moon phase indication, on the other a celestial chart, sidereal time, and the age and angular motion of the moon, and of course it features a minute repeater, cathedral nonetheless. As a matter of fact, while Patek Philippe unveiled the celebratory Grand Master Chime wristwatch for their 175th Anniversary with five chiming complications, perpetual calendar and moon phases, the movement at the heart of reference 5002, now available in reference 6002, still remains the most complicated creation by Patek Philippe.
The case is finely engraved with the "Calatrava cross" pattern, and so is the main dial: this is the first appearance in Patek Philippe catalogue of a timepiece with finely engraved case and dial, a trend which Patek Philippe will in the future apply to many of its high end wristwatches, most notably the recent celebratory piece Grand Master Chime.
The present example of this landmark reference is offered by its original owner complete of all of its accessories and in outstanding condition. It is a rare occasion for the eager collector to become the proud owner of one of the most iconic and groundbreaking models in Patek Philippe's modern production.
