Rare official Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) licensed handkerchief from the Tokyo 2020 “Ganbare! Nippon!” Character Design Series. This special collaboration brought together some of Japan’s most iconic manga and anime characters to support the Japanese Olympic Team ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The design features characters from: • Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon • Dragon Ball Super • One Piece • Naruto Shippuden • Astro Boy • Crayon Shin-chan • Yo-kai Watch • Maho Girls PreCure! Original official Japanese merchandise, purchased personally in Japan in 2017, several years before the Tokyo 2020 Games, which were eventually postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and held in 2021 under the original “Tokyo 2020” branding. The handkerchief retains its original “JOC OFFICIAL LICENSED PRODUCT” authentication sticker (ZA139837). Approximate size: 29 × 29 cm. The same handkerchief design is preserved in The Olympic Museum collection in Lausanne, Switzerland, where it is catalogued as “Tokyo 2020, handkerchief with manga characters” (Museum inventory no. 235499). Condition: Very good vintage condition. It has been preserved framed and protected. Please check all photographs carefully for exact condition. A particularly unusual Tokyo 2020 collectible combining Olympic memorabilia and some of the most famous Japanese anime and manga franchises in a single officially licensed item. The frame is shown for presentation. Original item from my personal collection. This is an original period item, not a reproduction or later commemorative product.
