Why become a member?
With an account you'll be able to create search alerts and save favourite objects. Furthermore, you get access to our appraisal service. It is simple to create an account, and we will of course keep your info safe and secure.
Great service! How do I sign up?
In the top right corner you'll find the Login/Register button, click on it and follow the instructions. You'll then receive an email to verify your account.
I've registered or logged in but haven't received a verification email. What do I do?
In some cases your email confirmation can end up in your spam folder. Start by checking if it's there. If you still can't find it and it's been more than half an hour since your request, send an email to contact@barnebys.com and we will assist you.
Search alerts
What's a search alert?
By creating a search alert, you'll get an email notification when new items matching your saved searches are listed on Barnebys. In order to create a search alert you need an account.
- Search for Rolex
- Click on Create search alert for 'Rolex'
- We'll then notify you when we've got new items matching your search
- On My pages you're able to view and edit your saved searches
Online appraisals
Do you do appraisals?
Yes, and by using our appraisal service powered by ValueMyStuff, info about your item is sent off to several of the country's foremost experts. You will get a response within 48 hours along with an appraisal certificate.
Do I have to pay for my appraisal?
- Yes, you can purchase your appraisal for either a 24-hour or 48-hour response time.
What payment methods do Barnebys accept?
- We gladly accept all major credit and debit cards for payments as well as PayPal.
What type of items do you value?
- Our specialists value all major categories of fine and decorative art objects and collectibles. For further information, please see our categories listed on ValueMyStuff.
How many items can I submit for each appraisal request?
- Each request is for a single item, unless the item is part of a set (e.g. a set of porcelain, flatware or jewellery)
What should I include in my object description?
- Please include as much information as you can – the more information we have, the more accurate your appraisal will be. Of particular importance is: measurements, marks, signatures, condition of the piece, and provenance (an item’s ownership/sale history). Any additional insights to the artist, date, country or region of origin and the like are also greatly appreciated.
What images should I include in my request?
- Please attached high quality images of the item taken in good natural light from all angles (front and back). Images of any signatures, stamps, inscriptions and maker’s marks are also crucial. Also, images of receipts, documentation or certificates of authenticity will greatly assist us in providing you with a precise value.
Will my insurance company accept your appraisal?
- Yes, most insurance companies will accept your Barnebys appraisal for their policies. If your particular insurance provider requires a certified appraisal, many of our specialists are certified appraisers and would be able to assist you for a separate fee.
Does Barnebys buy or sell items?
No, Barnebys is an art market search engine thus does not buy or sell items . If you are interested in offering your item(s) at auction, it would be our pleasure to reach out to our auction house affiliates on your behalf to arrange for a sale once your items have been valued. Simply click the 'Sell My Object' button on the email with your appraisal certificate or reach out to a member of our team.
Does Barnebys hold its own auctions?
No, we're a search service aimed at art, design, and collectibles interested and we don't hold our own auctions. At Barnebys you will, however, find hundreds of thousands of items from auction houses and dealers all over the world.
